TICKETS will be on sale from next week for one of the most anticipated literary events in Ross-shire.

The organisers at Ullapool Book Festival have released a full programme before ticket sales kick off on Monday, March 21. Sales will be opening at 7pm to make sure people working morning shifts are not disadvantaged in ticket allocations.

The festival, which will run from May 6 to Sunday, May 8, will see writers from Scotland, Canada and Estonia attending. Among them are Graeme Macrae Burnet (shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 2016), the award-winning poet and playwright Hannah Lavery, reporter and photographer David Pratt and Canadians Lynn Coady and Ian Williams – both of whom have won the Scotiabank Giller prize, Canada’s foremost literary award.

Lined up will also be a performance by the Fun Lovin’ Crime Writers, the band made up of crime writing pals Val McDermid, Chris Brookmyre, Luca Veste, Mark Billingham, Doug Johnstone, Stuart Neville.

Regarding Covid-19 precautions Joan Michael, the festival committee chair, said: “The safety of our audiences, guests and volunteers is our priority and we will follow all Scottish Government guidance. All our team are fully vaccinated and will take lateral flow tests beforehand. We hope it will be the same for our audience members. Although currently there is no social distancing we will have fewer seats (and therefore tickets) than usual.”

The full programme, including how to buy tickets is available on the website www.ullapoolbookfestival.co.uk, and can be downloaded and printed A4 size. Print copies will be available upon request.
