Two well-known Highland nightspots announced temporary closures due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It came on the first weekend since the relaxation of more coronavirus-related restrictions.

Revolution, in Church Street, and Botanic House, in Castle Street, both in Inverness, closed on Saturday.

A spokesman for Revolution said: "It’s with great disappointment and sadness that we must announce the immediate closing of our venue due to ‘track and trace’ guidelines.

"This is absolutely gut-wrenching, being so close to something we’ve waited so long for. But nothing is more important than the safety of our team and our guests.

"We will be closed from today [August 14] to Wednesday, August 18.

"Everyone stay safe! We’ll see you soon!"

A spokesman for Botanic House also urged people to stay safe.

He said: "Unfortunately we will be closed this evening [August 14] due to guidelines and the ongoing nationwide struggle.

"After months of planning, building, investing, recruiting and working extremely hard to make this the very best weekend we could for our customers it is our extreme regret and disappointment that we have had to close our doors until next weekend.

"The safety of our customers, staff and general public is of paramount importance to us and this decision has not come lightly.

"We look forward to welcoming you back next weekend and the eventual end of the pandemic.

"Any customers who have pre-purchased tickets will be contacted in due course."
