Traffic gridlock reported in Kingussie and Newtonmore after road accident on A9

There are reports of serious delays on the A9 after an accident just south of Newtonmore.

Police are reporting that two vehicles were involved in the crash at the junction between the trunk road and B9150 which occurred at around 11am.

Initially there were reports that the scene was passable with care, however, diversions are now in place through Newtonmore and Kingussie with heavy build-ups of traffic and delays.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called to reports of a two vehicle crash on the B9150 near the A9, Newtonmore at around 11am.

"Emergency services are currently in attendance and the road is closed."

No other information is available at this stage including on any casualties.
