Dingwall town centre housing regeneration masterplan continues with Highland Council plans for another 34 new homes on the Ross-shire county town’s Meiklefield estate
Plans have been lodged to build 34 new homes as part of the latest phase of construction in the regeneration of Dingwall’s Meiklefield Estate.
Highland Council has sought permission to build the mix of new housing on Meiklefield Road and Meiklefield Square.
Permission was granted earlier this year for numerous properties on those streets to be demolished in as part of wider plans to regenerate the area.
Once the whole masterplan is finally complete 114 old homes and flats in the Meiklefield area will have been levelled and replaced with 117 new social housing units.
And the new application for fresh housing to replace the latest demolitions is part of that masterplan.
The first phase of the project saw residents move into their new homes in early 2023.
Under the new proposals the new phase two housing will feature a mix of cottage flats, bungalows and house units, as well as associated site and civil works.
These would be built in a mix of terraced, semi-detached and single buildings.
Twenty-eight of the properties would be a mix of different two-bedroom cottage flat designs, with a further five properties being three-bedroom hours and one other building being a three-bedroom wheelchair bungalow.
