Highland Council has finally confirmed that another senior executive is set to leave the local authority next month, as first revealed in the Courier back in April.

Executive chief officer for resources and finance, Liz Denovan has announced her departure in June. after a little less than three years in the role.

She is set to take up what is described as “an exciting new role in the North of Scotland”.

Inside the council her resignation has sparked a move to reconsider the remit of the £123,612-a-year deputy chief executive job and postpone recruitment until after the elections that took place at the start of the month.

Speaking about her time at the council, she said: “Working with Highland Council during the challenges of the pandemic has brought great rewards to see staff changing and adapting under these difficult times.

“This was made more satisfying while working with such a fantastic team in the Council and I would like to thank them for their dedication, hard work and support.”

Highland Council Chief Executive Donna Manson said: “I’d like to thank Liz for her contribution to the Council especially during the pandemic and I wish her and her family well on their new adventure.”
