A ROSS-SHIRE group which first took a bow back in 1979 has gone from strength to strength in the four decades that have passed since then.

Dingwall and District Accordion and Fiddle Club has set thousands of toes a tapping down the years since first launching in September 1979 with many memorable musical nights showcasing established talent from around the country and also offering invaluable experience to newcomers cutting their teeth with live performances.

The group’s 40th anniversary was a time for celebration and reminiscence as the major milestone was marked in Dingwall.

The National Hotel played host to the get-together which included slices of celebratory cake baked locally.

The club, which holds musical meetings for its current session on the first Wednesday of the month from September up until May 6, 2020, was kickstarted into life back in 1979 when Bobby MacLeod was the guest artiste.

He was followed in October of that year by Graeme Mitchell and his band. The club prides itself on attracting some of the most talented players around in a convivial and encouraging backdrop.
