Tea-riffic Dingwall party plan gives cancer charity platform for success!
A BRILLIANT baker who runs a tea room at a busy Ross-shire railway station is on track to dish out a healthy boost to the cancer charity she supports.
Tina Swanson started a series of three Blooming Great Tea Parties for the local branch of Marie Curie Cancer Care earlier this month, and has already swelled the coffers by £225 after just one event.
After taking over the tearoom at Dingwall Railway Station in October, the fundraiser says she has “gone from being really busy to hardly having time to breath some days!”
The proprietor of the renamed Tina’s Tearoom hosted the first tea party on August 18. The next, for which she has already received a number of bookings, takes place today (August 25) from 3pm.
The final one in the series is next Monday (September 1) at the same time.
Tina, who has organised similar successful events before — even going so far as to offer bring cakes to business premises on one occasion — said: “People can book a table for afternoon tea for 3pm or they can take their chance and turn up between 4pm and 5pm.
“If the weather is good the tables will be out on the platform too.”
The local branch is also hosting a Quiz Night in Dingwall Academy on Friday, September 5 at 7pm.
A charge of £30 for teams of up to six will be levied to raise finds and participants will be invited to bring their own refreshments. The quizmaster is Howard Russell, known for his entertaining style.
