Tickets selling fast for Celtic tie

TICKETS for Ross County’s Scottish Communities League Cup third-round tie against Celtic have almost sold-out, despite the game being televised live on BBC Scotland.

The match, a repeat of the 2010 Scottish Cup semi-final which the Staggies won 2-0 at Hampden Park, kicks off at 7.15pm next Wednesday.

The last SPL club to visit Victoria Park in a cup competition was Hibernian, when County triumphed 2-1 in a quarter-final replay last March.

Tickets are available from the main reception on at the stadium until 5pm on Friday.

Ranald Gilbert, head of administration at the club, said: "There is real excitement and a buzz about the place because of this fixture. We can guarantee a fantastic atmosphere for both sets of fans."

The Dingwall club are pleased that the game was chosen to be screened by the BBC, and are looking to recreate the atmosphere of the night Hibernian came to Dingwall.

Mr Gilbert added: "Being on television is a great experience for the club and team and a mark of respect that our game was chosen to be televised.

"There is always a danger that televised games will sell slower, and it is possible that if it wasn’t being shown on TV, we could have sold out by now.

"There was a fantastic atmosphere at the Hibs game, playing a replay under the floodlights.

"We have much more experience after the exploits of the team in the past few seasons. "In the season when we played Hibs, we also had Highland derbies against Caley Thistle to organise, so we are much better prepared these days.

"Some Celtic fans may be upset about having to travel, but our fans come from as far as Skye and Wick to support us."

Celtic are aiming to defend the trophy, having triumphed 3-0 over SPL side Motherwell in last season’s final.

Tickets are being sold on a first come, first served basis, priced at £20 for adults and £10 for concessions, and can be bought by calling 01349 860860.
