THREE people were taken to hospital after a crash on the A9 in Easter Ross this morning.

The accident, involving two cars and a van, happened near Broomhill, between Tomich and Delny, at around 8.45am.

The trunk road was closed for about three hours and traffic was diverted via Invergordon.

Police said the van driver, who was travelling north, was taken to Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, by ambulance. His condition is believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

A man and a woman in a car travelling south were also taken to Raigmore. The woman was flown by air ambulance with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The man was taken by road with minor injuries.

The man driving the second car, also heading south, did not require medical treatment.

A police spokesman said: “If anyone was in the area at the time of the collision and witnessed the incident, they are encouraged to contact police on 101.”
