A tapestry that raised more than £3000 for charity Mikeysline has been presented to its new owners.

George Robinson (60), from Rhynie near Fearn, presented the floral and polka dot tapestry to Old Inverness Kilwinning St John VI.

The tapestry is made up from more than 36,000 pieces, and took more than 460 hours to complete.

Mr Robinson said that he was delighted with the £3093.50 that he managed to raise. He said that people from as far afield as Ireland had made donations to his campaign.

He said: "I am delighted that the fundraising went so well and after putting all the names into the hat, a random winner was selected."

Mr Robinson said: "Many people will not know that I have suffered with depression for three decades. Because of the pandemic I know that Mikeysline will need some extra funding as it is a much-needed mental health charity.”

He continued: “My story is that I had a head injury more than 20 years ago and I struggled with bouts of mental health problems. I overcame it with expert help, which I will always be grateful for.

“There is so much stigma surrounding mental health, especially among men, and I wanted to speak out and share my story. There is support there – and Mikeysline does an incredible job.

“I have been a member of the lodge for more than 30 years and I have received incredible support. People might say it is ok to not be ok, but people need to believe it as well.”

The Provincial Grand Master Robin Cattenach paid for the tapestry kit for Mr Robinson.
