A BEAULY teenager was seen waving a knife outside a block of flats in the Merkinch area of Inverness, the city’s sheriff court has heard.

Cameron Ross was seen by residents in flats at Glendoe Terrace waving the knife out in the street about 11.30pm on February 28.

Depute fiscal Michelle Molley said it was a kitchen knife with a blade 8 to 9 inches long.

“He was waving it about in the air. The matter was reported to the police and when they attended a short time later the knife was found on an area of grass near where he was standing.”

Ross (17) of Pinewood, Drumindorsair, Beauly admitted being in possession of a knife in Glendoe Terrace, Inverness on February 28.

His solicitor Willie Young said Ross was a chef and he had no previous record of convictions.

He had taken alcohol at the time and information contained in background reports showed he had been attending a family occasion which was ‘fairly emotional’.

Sheriff David Sutherland ordered Ross to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work and placed him on a two year supervision order.
