Tartan Week Lochcarron surprises in store during week-long Wester Ross initiative
AN invitation has gone out to the surrounding Lochcarron community to get involved in an annual festival celebrating all-things tartan.
Tartan Week Lochcarron, running from Friday, September 26 to Sunday, October 5, brings the community together through arts, music, history and local crafts.
A spokesperson for the initiative said: “Come and join in the fun. We have an arts and open studios trail, various workshops and art classes – including The Big Draw for children - exhibitions and other events.”

Now in its second year, the highlights are likely to be a grand ceilidh in the village hall (September 27), an exhibition of Old Lochcarron (September 29), and a Fashion Show at Lochcarron Weavers (October 2).
The final event will be comedian Craig Campbell in the village hall on October 5. There are lots of other events to tempt folk to visit the village.
There’s discounted entry to the Saturday ceilidh for anyone wearing tartan.
Local artist and potter Vik Stonebridge is holding a number of workshops throughout the week, including papermaking, kids comic drawing and pottery making.
There’s also the promise of a late night shopping session at The Smithy Hub with Lochcarron Weavers offering discounts.
