Tain pupils dazzled Innis Mhor Care Home residents with their festive tunes as they make an effort to “give something back to the community”.

A string group from Tain Royal Academy (TRA) have been busy rehearsing three pieces together, before visiting a local care home to play a few songs for them. As well as festive performances, the High Life Highland instructors also take the string group out in the summer term for an orchestra tour around local primary schools.

Sarah Paterson, depute head teacher for TRA said: “The residents really enjoy seeing young people come in to perform Christmas tunes for them, and our young people get the opportunity to increase their confidence and practice their performing skills.

“It is lovely to be able to give something back to our local community, and it is so important for there to be an intergenerational connection between the residents at homes like Innis Mhor and our pupils.”
