Tain pub smashes fundraising target with event-filled weekend for Mikeysline
A “wee” pub in Tain smashed all its expectations after raising over £2300 in support of mental health support charity Mikeysline.
The Star Inn raised £1100 for the cause last August after holding a “fun-filled” weekend of events, which included a quiz, darts and live music - but this year they have more than doubled their target of beating the total.

Owners Scott Crombie and Caroline Henderson say they decided to organise a second Mikeysline weekend in 2024 to “help in any way they could” to raise awareness of the work the Highland charity does.
The festivities kicked off with a Quiz Night which, after much hilarity, was won by Postie Pete’s Pistols.
The pub also held a Scottish Clubland night, impeccably MC’ed by DJ Ally Mackintosh immediately after live coverage of Scotland’s opening game of the Euros against Germany.
And The Star’s annual darts duos competition, entitled the “Mikeysline Charity Darts Championship”, sponsored by local business Tain Joinery & Carpentry, was won by the duo of Liam Rostock and Andy Ramsden.
Rounding off the weekend, the pub held raffles and auctions, with a top signed by young darts sensation, Luke Littler, raising an “amazing” £970 from one bidder.
Mr Crombie said: “We were only too happy to help in any way we could to help raise funds and awareness for Mikeysline.
“Last year we raised £1100, and our personal ‘target’ was to beat that this year. We more than beat it, we smashed it, and more than doubled it, raising an astonishing £2300.
“It was once again knackering, but so so worth it in the end. We can’t thank our wonderful punters enough - once again.
“In 10 months, we’ve held three charity weekends for Mikeysline and Cash For Kids, and raised an astronomical £5400. Outstanding for a wee pub.”
