Tain police have warned residents of “possible bogus workmen” in the area.

Police Scotland issued a statement on their social media, advising residents to treat door-to-door traders with caution.

The police said: “Our colleagues in Tain have been made aware of possible bogus workmen in the area. If door-to-door traders come to your door, please treat them with caution... and if in doubt — keep them out.

“Anyone with information regarding bogus workmen are encouraged to contact the us or Trading Standards.

“Police Scotland can be contacted on 101 and 999 for emergencies. Also, you can report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
