Tain charity helped clothe over 850 Highland children in 2024
A TAIN-based charity has helped clothe over 850 Highland children in 2024 alone, the charity founder has revealed.
Grassroots charity Kats Second Editions, was founded by Katrena ‘Kat’ Macleod in 2020 and became an officially-registered charity in July 2024. The confidential charity collects donations of children’s clothes, shoes, jacket and even toiletries, and re-distributes them to families in need.
Kat has now revealed that in 2024 alone, the charity has helped clothe 872 children from 563 families. She said: “I would like Kats Second Editions to continue to expand, as our community desperately needs this service to continue.
“As a part of our Annual Warm Winter Jacket appeal, we have provided 12 winter snowsuits and 196 winter jackets to babies, toddlers and children in the community. Our Annual Toiletries Drive also provided toiletry bags to two secondary schools and eight primary schools, for teenagers and children who have no access to basic toiletries. As well as this, we also provided 150 toiletry bags for Women’s Aid.”
Since the charity began in October 2020, the charity has helped clothe nearly 3000 children from over 2000 families. After receiving donations from kind members of the public, Kat will re-distribute them to someone she knows is in need of them, or she will list them on the Kats Second Editions Facebook page where followers can comment or message if they would like an item.
Kat continued: “We also launched our Christmas Jumper Appeal this year. With the donations received, we helped P7s from Knockbreck Primary and Craighill Primary to sell the jumpers for £1 each. All of the takings on the night were put towards the P7 trip next year.
“So in a nutshell, we want to continue what we’re doing!”
