DINGWALL's swimming pool will remain closed "until further notice" after maintenance work over-ran.

Highland Council made the announcement on Monday afternoon, offering apologies for the inconvenience from both it and the Dingwall Leisure Centre Swimming Pool's operator, High Life Highland.

"Arrangements have been made to inform customers of the closure and swimming lessons will continue at Alness Swimming Pool on Monday afternoons and evenings until further notice," said a council spokeswoman.

The pool was closed on July 29 to allow the works to take place. They involve the replacement of ventilation ducts beneath the pool, with additional concrete repairs being undertaken at the same time to enhance the swimming pool area for users.

"The planned works programme was extended to allow the encapsulation/seal of adjacent asbestos to provide safe environment for the contractors carrying out the planned works," added the spokeswoman.

"The council once again apologies for the inconvenience and the pool will reopen as soon as all works are complete. Swimming Pool customers will be kept informed by High Life Highland."
