Guest artiste for the evening was James Corbett from Lairg with his trio.

James played his Hohner Gola, tuned to perfection, with a wireless midi bass fitted, producing an excellent sound. Accompanying him were Susie Simpson on second accordion and Gillian Stevenson on fiddle. The audience enjoyed a variety of music which included several tunes with a Shetland connection inspired by his visits to the Shetland Accordion and Fiddle Festival.

It is always a pleasure to have new players come along. Fourteen-year-old Sophie Stewart, on accordion, received a warm round of applause for her excellent playing.

A surprise visit from band leader David Oswald delighted the audience. David, from Stirling, was working in the area that day. Accompanied by Gillian on fiddle he came along and played some toe-tapping tunes on his accordion. Heather Lyon from Embo, and Monica MacLean from Rogart are now welcome regulars at the club. Accompanied by Monica on accordion and Christine Matheson on piano, Heather's selections included some lovely slow airs. Maggie Jamieson accompanied them on drums.

The InverRoss Band were the final local artistes with Donna Dingwall and Christine Matheson on accordions, Audrey MacDonald on fiddle and Michael Chisholm on drums. Susie Simpson joined the band on piano. They played a selection of popular tunes finishing with one of the most popular, Robbie Shepherd MBE.

This was another night of great music. The next meeting is on Wednesday, February 5 with talented Georgie MacLennan from Rogart with her band.
