Cromarty pensioner’s death being investigated by Police Scotland officers in the Highlands; death of the 77-year-old Black Isle man is being treated as ‘unexplained’

Police are investigating after the sudden death of a man in Cromarty.

Emergency services were called to the Braehead area of the Black Isle village at around 6.45pm on Wednesday to reports of an injured pensioner outside a property.

He died at the scene and officers were describing his death as “unexplained” when they issued a short statement on Thursday morning.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.45pm on Wednesday, 22 January, 2025, we were called to a report of a 77-year-old man found injured outside a property in the Braehead area of Cromarty.

“Emergency services attended however he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
