CALMAC has announced a string of weather-related cancellations on its Ullapool-Stornoway ferry later this week.

Thursday’s 10.30am and 5.30pm sailings from Ullapool and 2pm ferry out of Stornoway have all been cancelled due to an “adverse weather” forecast. That day’s 7am sailing out of Stornoway is also “liable to disruption or cancellation” at short notice.

The disruption continues into Friday, with the 7am ferry from Stornoway also cancelled, and the 10.30am from Ullapool “liable to disruption”.

The cancellations later this week come amid a forecast for strong winds.

The Met Office has issued yellow alerts for snow and ice for parts of Ross-shire on Wednesday and all through Thursday, and warned that the warning tonight and through tomorrow will be accompanied by “strong winds” which will “bring blizzard conditions in places” to areas that do see snowfall.
