THE travel plans of thousands of cruise line passengers due to arrive in Invergordon over the past couple of days have been disrupted by Storm Floris.

An amber Met Office weather warning for wind is currently in place with Storm Floris expected to bring unseasonably strong and disruptive winds to much of Scotland today.

The Port of Cromarty Firth, expected to welcome around 150,000 passengers through the deepwater port this season, confirmed today that the forecasted weather led to the cancellation of Star Legend’s visit yesterday and Regal Princess’s planned call today.

Regal Princess has a passenger capacity of 3800 with a crew complement of up to 1300.

Star Legend would have brought around 390 passengers, many booked for whistlestop tour of the Highlands or day trips to the likes of Inverness.

The port posted of the weather disruptions: “We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our guests, crew and local businesses.

“On a brighter note, we’re pleased to welcome an unplanned call from Seabourn Sojourn on Tuesday, August 5. We’ll keep you posted if anything changes.

“Thank you for your understanding.”
