Invergordon Fire Station hails local heroes

MEMBERS of the public grabbed the opportunity to get a glimpse into what local heroes living amongst them do on a day to day basis.

Invergordon Fire Station’s recent open day offered the chance to find out what’s involved for local members of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).

Invergordon Fire Station crews two fire appliances and one wildfire unit.

The role of the latter has been increasingly significant in tackling a wide range of blazes across the rural Highlands.

The Invergordon team demonstrated some its training drills, which include responding to road traffic accidents - another significant part of a firefighter’s work.

The crew also saluted a couple of local supporters. June Ross is a community champion at Morrisons well known in the community.

The team thanked her “for her consistent and constant support to our station whether it’s bacon rolls from the cafe at 8am after a long night or food for a fire skills course”.

They said: “We can always count on the support from June!”
