Highland Business Women will be meeting up online for the 2021 Awards.

Just as last year, the members of Highland Business Women and their friends are not going to let the pandemic get on the way of a party.

True, the networking group’s annual awards on Thursday, August 26, will again be held online, but organisers are promising an interactive event that all members can feel a part of, even if they are watching from their own home – though the committee is still recommending that the usual dress code is adhered to. Even a pandemic is not going to prevent a chance to glam up.

Keeping things upbeat and under control will be host Nicky Marr, who is sponsored by recruitment agency Brook Street.

Having already hosted a number of virtual events, including awards ceremonies, Nicky is already well used to keeping the party spirit going online.

Someone else who knows how fun the Highland Business Women Awards can be – and just what a difference winning can make – is Clare Humphreys of Kingussie-based personal coaching company Will to Win.

Clare was named last year’s Highland businesswoman of the year and she is repaying the support she received from the organisation by stepping in as this year’s entertainment sponsor.

“I’m so proud to be supporting HBW and the great work us as women do,” Clare declared.

“It’s fundamental that women in business have a like-minded support system in place to share ideas, support each other and have fun. Being in business can be a lonely place and having Highland Business Women on your side can make all the difference.”

Although the virtual nature of this year’s event means that participants will have to provide their own refreshments, Dingwall’s GlenWyvis Distillery has come on board as drinks sponsor to show its support for Highland Business Women and the women of the north business community.

The distillery’s Josh Fraser said: “The Highland Business Women Awards shine a light on those going above and beyond in our local business area. As a community benefit society we believe in championing local entrepreneurship and supporting those that support others. As a sponsor of these awards we wish all nominees good luck for the evening.”

The online event is free, but donations are encouraged in support of this year’s chosen charity, Mikeysline, and the awards will also include a special focus on the Inverness-based mental health support charity and its work.

Keep an eye on the Highland Business Women website and social media channels to find out how to be a part of the evening and find out more about what to expect on the night.

However, time is running out for those who want to be among the winners of the 10 categories announced at the awards.

The deadline for entries is just a week away at 5pm on Friday, August 6, so the committee are issuing a final reminder to all interested businesses and individuals to get their applications in before it is to late.

For details on all this year’s awards, including the criteria the judges will be looking for, and to download an application form, please visit www.hbw.scot/awards.

All completed entries should be sent to info@hbw.scot by the end of next week.
