THE Black Isle author on an award-winning WWI novel inspired by a family secret is launching the refreshed paperback edition in Ross-shire on Saturday.

Vee Walker’s Major Tom’s War struck a chord around the world and has been expanded with bonus material and new photos for its paperback version.

She was gripped by the story unfolding in her grandfather’s war diaries and went on to produce a very well-received epic that took a prize at the Society for Army Historical Research Awards.

Heroes and villains – a Highland army officer amongst the latter – abound in the genre-crossing tale. She describes it as “a story about survival through terrifying and unpredictable times”.

She’ll be at Storehouse of Foulis on Saturday between 11am and 3pm to sign a limited edition at just £8.99.

Copies can be reserved by emailing her at info@majortomswar.com
