Balintore fire station and crew hailed ‘beacon of protection and service’ as SFRS marks 50-year anniversary
FIREFIGHTERS ready to respond to emergencies in an Easter Ross community have marked a milestone.
Balintore Community Fire Station is celebrating 50 years of dedicated service.
The anniversary was marked with a special evening event attended by past and present firefighters.
Established in 1975, Balintore Community Fire Station has been a pillar of safety and support for the area, responding to fires in homes, wildfires and road traffic accidents as well as providing vital prevention advice.
The celebration, held at the station, included speeches from senior officers of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
Attendees had the opportunity to engage with firefighters and learn more about the station’s evolution.
A special presentation honoured past and present crew members for their dedication and bravery.
Deputy Assistant Chief Officer Stephen Wood expressed gratitude for their unwavering support.
He said: “For 50 years, Balintore Community Fire Station has stood as a beacon of protection and service.
“This celebration is a testament to the dedication of our firefighters, past and present, and the strong community spirit that has supported us throughout the years.”
The evening concluded with a heartfelt tribute to Firefighter William Paterson QFSM, who was honoured with a Certificate of Appreciation for his exceptional contributions spanning five decades. Since the station's inception, he has been at its heart.
William said: "It has been an honour to serve this community for the past 50 years. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some truly dedicated firefighters, past and present, and it’s been incredible to see how the station has grown and evolved.
“The fire service has always been a team effort, and I’m grateful to be part of such a committed group of people who care deeply about protecting and supporting our community."
As the station embarks on its next chapter, it remains committed to upholding its core values of courage, dedication, and community spirit.
