A hospital worker is urging others to complain about the Spaces for People roadworks in Inverness.

Victoria MacFarlane, who works at Raigmore, said the temporary Covid-19 paths had actually made it more difficult for people trying to get to the hospital.

The Highland Council scheme was designed to promote active travel to key worker hubs through priority routes for walkers, wheelers and cyclists.

Ms MacFarlane said: “At Ballifeary Community Council, we raised concerns about what was being proposed. The council officers were meant to be there to listen, but they didn’t listen at all.

“The move was supposed to make it easier for people to get to work. Well, I work on a 24-hour shift system and I cannot get to Raigmore from Ballifeary without using my car.

“The measures only cause more frustration as everyone is getting caught up in the traffic system.

“I find it difficult to get to and from work. I feel as though I am constantly stuck in traffic. It was not like this before.

“Unless people complain to the council, my fear is that these measures will become permanent.”
