FLY-TIPPERS who went to the trouble of taking a sofa to a Black Isle beauty spot have been condemned for their selfish actions – and advised to consider Highland Council’s bulky uplift service next time.

The beige coloured settee was dumped at popular walking spot, the Fairy Glen, near Rosemarkie.

Councillor Craig Fraser, Black Isle, said: “Fly-tipping is not acceptable, Covid or no Covid. It is just laziness, by the time people have found a place to dump this stuff they could have arranged for Highland Council to pick it up.”

He said he had recently used the council bulky uplift service himself.

Details are on the authority’s website under ‘bulky uplift’. The cost of a bulky uplift is £23.37 for up to three items and £46.73 for up to six items. The website details what can be taken.
