A FRESH yellow weather warning has been issued for the Highlands - this time for overnight snow and ice.

The warning, which comes into effect at 6pm and runs right through until 11am tomorrow, covers an area from Loch Eriboll on the north coast to Loch Lomond in the south.

It applies mostly to inland areas including parts of Sutherland, Ross-shire, Inverness-shire, the Great Glen, the Cairngorms, and parts of Argyll and Perthshire.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: “Snow showers and icy surfaces may lead to some travel disruption through Monday night and into Tuesday morning.

“Some roads and railways [are] likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.”

They also warned of the likelihood of icy patches on some untreated roads and paths.
