Covid-19 contact tracing under way as it emerges 'small cluster' of infected people visited three Dingwall pubs; NHS Highland issues fresh appeal over virus threat amid 'increase in cases'
CONTACT tracing is under way in a Ross-shire town after it emerged a "small cluster" of positive Covid-19 cases visited three pubs.
Earlier today we reported how The Mallard in Station Square had voluntarily closed after it emerged a customer who yesterday tested positive for Covid-19 had visited on Friday evening.
Landlord Sean Kennedy said he had taken the decision to close as the safety of customers and staff was of paramount importance.
It has now emerged that NHS Highland "is aware of a small cluster of positive Covid-19 cases" that visited two other drinking establishments in Ross-shire's county town, too.
It said the individuals visited the Legion, Oscars and the Mallard pubs in Dingwall.
NHS Highland's Health Protection Team is carrying out contact tracing and investigations are ongoing in conjunction with Highland Council’s Environmental Health Team.
NHS Highland did not say how many people are understood to be in the "small cluster".
A spokesman said: "We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that we are seeing an increase in cases across Highland and so everyone should continue to adhere to physical distancing guidelines, wear a face-covering when in enclosed spaces, clean your hands and surfaces regularly and immediately self-isolate and seek a test if you develop symptoms."
