ScotRail warns railway passengers of disruption to some Kyle Line services in the Highlands after signal fault sparked cancellation of some trains between Inverness and Kyle of Lochalsh

RAIL passengers on the Kyle line were facing disruption on Wednesday after two trains were cancelled between Inverness and Kyle of Lochalsh.

The 10.56am journey from Inverness, and the 1.46pm return trip from Kyle of Lochalsh have both been cancelled due to “a fault with the signalling system”, ScotRail has confirmed.

A spokesman said: “Public transport should only be used for essential reasons, to comply with the Scottish Government restrictions. If your journey is essential, please speak to a member of staff or press the help point for further information.”

Elsewhere, passengers on the Highland mainline were being warned to expect minor delays of just a few minutes after a signalling fault in Fife caused knock-on disruption for some trains passing through Perth – including services travelling between Inverness and the central belt.
