A DAUGHTER’s tribute to “the bravest and most inspirational woman I’ve ever met” ended this week at a Ross-shire landmark beloved of many it overlooks.

Angela Hamilton passed away on July 29 at the age of just 51 after living bravely with motor neurone disease for six years.

Her Alness-based daughter Natalie took on the MND Scotland Supernova Challenge in tribute to her mum and to repay a debt of gratitude for the charity’s support.

Walking 349km over the course of August – and finishing it at Fyrish on the last day of the month – she raised more than £3000, smashing her original modest target of £100.

An upsurge of community support saw the Grounded cafe help chip in £700 with a charity baking sale and donation.

Natalie runs her DNA dance class in space leased from Grounded and it was a way of giving something back and honouring a remarkable woman.

Natalie was supported by partner Greig and one-year-old daughter Demi as well as her dad Jim, who she said had been a great support.

MND Scotland is a charity close to her heart having seen first hand how the disease affects the individual and their family.

Natalie, who works for Action for Children, said her mum continued working from home for accounting firm Mackay & Co until five weeks before she passed.

She said: “She was really the bravest and most inspirational woman I have met and I know she would have been with me every step of the way.”

She paid tribute to the support of family and well-wishers.

Her mum was on a drugs trial and knew that while it might not help her, it could potentially benefit others in the future.

Natalie offered heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported her fundraising effort: “You have no idea how much I appreciate it,”

Her JustGiving page will stay open until September 12.
