AN Inverness councillor is warning motorists to avoid part of the A9 in Inverness following an accident.

Councillor Ken Gowans says around 10-12 emergency vehicles are at the scene near the turn off towards the Inshes flyover.

He said: "Traffic at a standstill southbound on A9 due to a serious accident. Avoid this area please."

It is understood the road was closed at 4.15pm.
