SOME pupils at an Inverness primary will stay home for two weeks after a classmate was confirmed to have coronavirus.

A letter has been sent to parents of pupils at Dalneigh Primary this afternoon, with a separate letter sent to parents of close contacts of the child.

Head teacher Rhona McCormick said: "We have followed the national guidance and we have identified that your child has been in close contact with the affected child. In line with the national guidance we recommend that your child now stay at home and self-isolate until September 2, which is 14 days following their last contact.

"We are asking you to do this to reduce the further spread of COVID 19 to others in the community.

"If your child is well at the end of the 14 day period of self-isolation, then they can return to usual activities.

"Other members of your household can continue normal activities provided your child does not develop symptoms within the 14 day self-isolation period."

It comes a day after a teacher at Kinmylies Primary in Inverness tested positive for the virus.
