WATER supplies were returning to normal for 200 Evanton homes this morning after a burst main caused a loss of supply on Monday.

A four-inch water main burst on the north side of Evanton shortly before 4pm yesterday.

Scottish Water engineers worked into the night to restore supplies, with the repair finally being completed shortly after midnight. An update on Scottish Water's website at 7.30am on Tuesday morning confirmed that supplies were returning to normal after the earlier outage.

A spokesman for Scottish Water said: “We would like to apologise to customers in Evanton who experienced disruption to their water supply as a result of a burst on a 4 inch water main on the north side of the village.

“The burst occurred a short time before 4pm on Monday, causing loss of supply or lower than normal water pressure to around 200 homes in the local area.

"Our team attended and worked to restore supplies to as many of the affected customers as possible, while starting to excavate the damaged section of main. A repair was completed just after midnight, allowing the affected part of the water network to recover overnight.

“We’re grateful for the patience and understanding of customers while our team worked on site to restore normal service as quickly as possible.”
