A SCHOOL’S staff and pupils have paid tribute to an administrative assistant after she retired last week.

Eileen Brice, retired on Friday after 32 years of service at St Duthus Special School in Tain.

During her career she supported eight of the school’s head teachers, and also provided advice, care and guidance to pupils and families through her roles as a Pupil Support Assistant and Administrative Assistant.

Clare Whiteford, the current head teacher said: “Eileen is an integral part of St Duthus and I can’t imagine the school without her.

“Her knowledge of the school and how it works has been invaluable and we are all very sad to see her go. She is a kind and welcoming person who will always go that extra mile for the school. It has been difficult saying goodbye, especially during these strange times, but we wish Eileen a very long and happy retirement – she deserves it.”

Staff and pupils provided a socially distanced clap of appreciation for Ms Brice.

“She will be invited back as a special guest to fully acknowledge and thank her for the important role she has played in the school once this is possible,” added Ms Whiteford.

Away from the school Ms Brice and her family are active in the community. She is a member of the local Scottish Country Dance Group, attends Jive classes and plays bridge.
