THE green-fingered gurus behind the Black Isle Horticultural Society’s are plotting this weekend's plant sale with huge enthusiasm.

It is being staged on Saturday at the Gordon Memorial Hall in Rosemarkie, from 10.30am until 1pm.

BIHS secretary Graham Sullivan said: “We’re delighted to be able to hold our sale again, and we’ve got lots of plants that we’ll sell at affordable prices. We’re sure that whatever type of garden you have, you’ll find something to interest you. And we won’t put everything out at once at the start of the sale - whatever time you arrive, we expect to have a good selection available.”

At this popular event the plants on sale are donated by members and friends of the horticultural society, so they’re grown locally by interested gardeners. Browsers can be sure that as well as the plants being accustomed to our environment, the wide range will include many interesting and unusual types.

As well as some common ornamental and edible plants, keen gardeners will be able to find some special herbaceous and alpine plants, wild flowers to make your own meadow, tomatoes for the greenhouse, soft fruit and unusual vegetables – like the perennial Daubenton’s kale and tree spinach – as well as house plants.

Find more details, including a list of some of the plants that will be available, on the Horticultural Society’s website http://www.spanglefish.com/blackislehorticulturalsociety/. There will also be updates on Facebook – search for Black Isle Horticultural Society – and if you’re not digitally connected, you can phone 01349 861991 for more.
