Prices and prizes from Christmas show and sale at Dingwall and Highland Marts

DINGWALL and Highland Marts sold 28 prime cattle at its Christmas Show and Sale judged by W Cameron Esq, Burnside of Edingight.

Overall champion and 1st prize best bullock – Messrs J Munro & Son, Invercharron, Ardgay for an 18 month old, 560kg Limousin

cross selling at 295p per kg (£1,652.00) to Messrs John M Munro Ltd, Dingwall.

Reserve champion and 1st prize best heifer – Messrs J & B McCallum, Mountrich Farm, Dingwall for a 23 month old, 585kg Limousin cross selling at 310.0p per kg (£1,813.50) to Messrs Fraser Brothers, Butchers, Dingwall.

2nd prize best bullock – Messrs A Moore (Drummond) Ltd, Drummond Farm, Evanton, 209.0p.

2nd prize best heifer – Messrs J & J Henderson, Udale, Poyntzfield, 290.0p.

Prime bullocks (5) averaged 237.5p (+26.7p) and sold to 295.0p per kg and £1,652.00 gross for a 560kg Limousin cross from Invercharron, Ardgay selling to Messrs John M Munro Ltd, Dingwall.

Prime heifers (23) averaged 230.4p (+17.9p) and sold to 310.0p per kg and £1,813.50 gross for a 585kg Limousin cross from Mountrich Farm, Dingwall selling to Messrs Fraser Brothers, Butchers, Dingwall.

The mart sold 909 prime sheep at its Christmas Show and Sale.

New season lambs (704) averaged 195.2p (+0.1p) and sold to 282.6p per kg and £130.00 gross.

SQQ 36.5kg to 45.5kg (435) averaged 197.2p (-2.0p) per kg.

Feeding sheep (205) sold to £150 gross.

It sold 909 prime sheep.
