THE rubbish behaviour of a small minority of visitors to a Ross-shire beauty spot could spoil it for everyone else.

That's the warning in Easter Ross after a community group was left picking up after others following a Friday night "session".

Evanton Wood Community Company said: "Most people look after the woods and the facilities.

"A minority of people unfortunately do not. Bags of bottles and cans left after a session on Friday evening –binned, but in the wrong bins - along with leftover meat and BBQ items.

"And an unwelcome find on Monday morning - a rubbish bag pushed down into the composting toilet vault, full of bottles and cans. It is left to volunteers to deal with this - not pleasant?

"Wonder if people would put such things in their own toilets? We ask everybody to take their own rubbish away with them. The toilet is cleaned on a regular basis and left open 24/7.

"If it is abused we will have to open it up only for events and bookings."

The wood has been hailed a sanctuary by many, particularly during the lockdown period and has developed to welcome a wide variety of groups get in touch with and enjoy nature.
