A 36-year-old offshore oil worker refused to wear a face covering in a city bar and was asked to leave.
But Frank McBeath, of Montgomery Road, Aberdeen became abusive toward staff at McCallum’s bar in Union Street in Inverness on September 30, last year.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard that he refused to leave the premises when asked and police were called.
Fiscal depute Ruraidh Allison said McBeath had to be handcuffed but struggled with officers, causing one of them to fall to the ground.
McBeath admitted a breach of the peace and was fined £520.
Defence solicitor Rory Gowans said: “Initially his wife was asked to wear a mask but she is medically exempt. He took exception to the way she was being spoken to.”
