Ambitions of Dingwall Primary School get seal of approval from local councillors in wake of inspector report
THE improvements and sense of ambition at Dingwall Primary have got the seal of approval of local councillors.
Dingwall Primary this week received a solid report from Education Scotland in the wake of a glowing assessment earlier in the year from the Care Inspectorate for its nursery.
Cllr Sean Kennedy is upbeat about the educational prospects for Dingwall from nursery right through to secondary school.
He said: "We had a report this week from Karen Cormack, head at Dingwall Academy, over the recent exams results which were excellent. They reflect very much the hard work of pupils and the teaching team, especially as some of the learning was done over the lockdown period.
"I have a soft spot for all the team and pupils at Dingwall Primary under the superb leadership of Sara Mackaskill. Every time I visit the school I get an overwhelming feeling of togetherness and team and community spirit that can only bode well for all concerned with the school."
Veteran councillor Margaret Paterson said: "I am so grateful to our head teacher as she has worked so hard since she joined. She is held in high regard by the staff, parents and councillors but best of all she is loved by the children. Dingwall Primary was always at the heart of our community and it will flourish under Sara Macaskill’s positive and caring attitude."
Former Dingwall Academy rector Graham Mackenzie, who has several years of experience in inspections, said: "I've been immensely impressed by Sara since she took over. I very much respect the hard work that has gone into the school since she took over. I've got grandchildren in the school and I know they are doing a first class job. I also know how difficult it is preparing for inspection having worked in that line myself. The inspectors will have helped set out a clear agenda."
He said Covid took its toll on education but pointed out children are "resilient beasts", adding: "We will keep an eye on those who need help."
