DETERMINED organisers of a Ross-shire wool festival cancelled because of the coronavirus crisis have hailed the success of a "virtual" event held in its place.

The Dingwall Wool Fest was to have been held in the county town last weekend.

The Highland Wool and Textile group behind it decided to make up for the disappointment of having to cancel by offering an online showcase to vendors instead.

They were invited to show their goods online with links enabling browsers to buy or discuss their goods.

Organisers expressed themselves happy with the response, stating: "To date we have had a post reach of 7085, 1015 page views, and engagement with our posts at 2358.

"Most of the vendors had over 200 visits and some over 500. It hasn't been the same as seeing everyone face to face but it has got the word out to a wide audience and we didn't get wet on Saturday.

"Again many thanks and don't forget most of the vendors will still be selling on their sites."
