Thousands of shoeboxes packed with everyday essentials and some special extras are dispatched around the world to families in need, bringing some of the magic of Christmas to home many miles from Ross-shire.

In addition to collecting at school and getting family and friends involved, pupils reached out to the wider community by collecting shoeboxes from the Blythswood shop in the village. The local church community also chipped in a number of boxes.

Tarradale Primary depute head Shona Mitchell said later: “I think all in all we have about 140 filled shoeboxes to hand over, so we are absolutely delighted with the response from everyone, a real community effort.”
