A862 between Dingwall and Ardullie to be closed for three months for pipeline work
A NEAR three-month closure of a section of road close to Ross-shire’s county town will involve a lengthy diversion for motorists.
Scottish Water is planning to close a section of the A862 between Dingwall and Ardullie from Monday, July 7 as part of works to renew the water mains on the road.
The proposal has already sparked concerns about the impact on motorists with a number of communities understood to be seeking clarification.
Scottish Water says the works are needed to upgrade the underground pipes “and ensure locals continue to receive fresh, great tasting water”.
For safety reasons a full road closure between Dingwall and Ardullie is required, it says.
It is anticipated the road will reopen on October 3.
The public utility is giving advance notice to road users and encouraging people travelling on this route to allow extra time for their journey.
A diversion route will be in place via the A9 and the Cromarty Bridge.
A spokesperson for Scottish Water said: “Our operatives will work to reduce the impact and re-open the road as quickly as possible, but we understand this may affect journey times. We thank motorists for their patience while this work is carried out.”
