HEAVY snowfall in parts of the Highlands is taking its toll on travel by road.

A number of motorists have reported difficulties around the Glen Docherty area of Wester Ross following a fresh covering of snow.

And police say the B9176 Struie Road is currently closed due to adverse weather.

It comes amid an active Met Office weather warning which is in place until tomorrow morning.

The Yellow alert for the Highlands flags a chance of disruption and difficult travel conditions due to snow and ice and “possible delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel”.

The warnings ask people to be vigilant over the possibility of some rural communities being cut off and potential power cuts.

Traffic Scotland is currently echoing the warning of disruption and difficult travel conditions due to snow and ice.

The agency maintains a map of gritter activity.
