EASTER Ross lifesavers have challenged supporters to go on the run during the coronavirus lockdown to help protect the vital service they provide.
Hit like many other charities by the cancellation of key annual fundraising events because of the public health crisis, Invergordon RNLI is lining up a series of "virtual" events to try and make up the shortfall.
The first is a fun run with a difference which is set to take place between Monday and Sunday next week.
In line with government advice on social distancing, the lifeboat branch is challenging individuals and households to take on 5km or 10kn challenges and then post photographs of their route, along with a donation for taking part.
The Invergordon lifeboat crew would normally have been laying preparations for a series of other events, including an annual open day scheduled for August but now cancelled.
The RNLI relies entirely on public donations to fund its 24/7 response to anyone in peril on the sea.
People taking part are simply asked to find a route of their choice and complete it between June 1 and June 7. They can then submit a route picture to virtualfunrun@invergordonlifeboat.org
The cost is set at £5 for a single entry or £10 for a couple or a family entry.
A spokesman said: "All proceeds will help save lives at sea and ensure the volunteer crew are equipped for every rescue!"
