THE rapid growth of the renewable energy sector is powering a "significant resurgence" for a specialist Ross-shire manufacturer and fuelling a new recruitment drive.

SGL Carbon’s fibre production plant in Muir of Ord – the only one of its kind in the UK – is looking to recruit 15 more staff as demand for products ranging from wind turbine parts, battery storage devices and electric vehicles soars.

The site is adding to its staff in anticipation of another production line restarting later in the year. It says there are also other open vacancies outside of the direct operational team.

Steve Easton, managing director at SGL Carbon, said: “Fibre production at the site was established over 40 years ago with SGL Carbon acquiring it in 1997. Over the years there has been significant investment, expansion and growth.

"We are very fortunate to be in this position and pleased we are able to give back to the local economy as we look to employ the best talent out there. It is an added bonus that the majority of our products are being used within the renewables sector, contributing to a greener future.”

Applicants for the operations positions are asked to contact moorecruitment@sglgroup.com or call 01463 274000 and ask for human resources.
