New jobs up for grabs at Muir of Ord-based SGL Carbon as demand for services prompts growth

A ROSS-SHIRE employer which is enjoying booming demand for its product is seeking to expand its workforce.

Muir of Ord-based SGL Carbon is creating 28 new jobs to meet growing demand for its graphite and composite materials.

Currently employing 219 people, of which 171 are directly employed, SGL added 12 new members to the team in March and is now seeking 16 additional operators to keep up with demand.

It is actively recruiting for a number of vacancies, including operators and also some additional salaried positions in engineering and maintenance.

Steve Easton, site director, said: “This recruitment drive is very positive news for the long-term future of our Muir of Ord site.

"It’s been a challenging year for the manufacturing sector, so we are delighted to see an increase in demand for our services. We are acutely aware of the positive impact recruitment can have on the local economy and hope to receive suitable applications to fill these positions."
