CABERFEIDH Shinty Club has suspended participation in senior events for a fortnight in response to the Covid-19 situation.

The Strathpeffer-based club said the decision had been taken after discussion with players, managers, committee and the Camanachd Association following the ongoing increase in local Covid infections.

It said: "This is not an easy step to take but it is in the best interests of our players, members and the local community. We have seen other clubs with players infected by Covid and all involved having to isolate and this is something that we have no wish to emulate. "We appreciate that Covid infections can originate in many different places not just on the pitch but if we lessen the risk while numbers locally are increasing it's an easy decision to make."

All senior training has also been suspended until July 5.

It is hoped to reschedule with midweek games as soon as possible "but only when rates of infection drop".

The club's lottery jackpot is at £200 for Monday's draw and tickets are available from McColls in Strathpeffer Square, Caley Bar in Dingwall, Contin Filling station and Batty's Baps in Dingwall.

Tickets are also available by contacting caberfeidhshintyclub@hotmail.com.
