A ROSS-SHIRE secondary has announced a "partial closure" for this morning (Thursday).

Fortrose Academy blamed "ongoing staff absences and lack of sufficient cover to operate safely" in its decision to close to S1 and S2 pupils.

It also apologised for the lateness of the message, shared on social media on Wednesday night.

The school said: "Due to ongoing staff absences and lack of sufficient cover to operate safely, the school will be closed to S1 and S2 pupils.

"Staff will try to post work for S1 and S2 where possible.

"S3-6 should attend as normal.

"Please share if possible.

"The staffing situation for Friday will be reviewed tomorrow."
