PARENTS of pupils at a Ross-shire primary school's nursery are being advised it will close tomorrow.

Tarradale Primary shared the information on its social media page this evening.

It follows a series of Covid outbreaks at schools across the Highlands.

It has been estimated that almost half of all schools have been affected since the term began.

The school head Tracy Sinclair posted: "I’m very sorry to say that I’ve taken the decision tonight after hearing of more positive cases, to close our nursery tomorrow.

"I will be in touch with all nursery parents by email in the morning with further information.

"Meanwhile the advice is to organise a PCR test for your child and make sure they are self-isolating until the results come back."

Earlier today, Highland Council leader Margaret Davidson flagged her concerns about the "almost unmanageable" level of cases in the region following a number of outbreaks.

She said: "We have always worked very closely with the health protection team who do a sterling job and together, our staff and the NHS team have managed local outbreaks very well. However, since the change in self-isolation guidance, the level of cases has become almost unmanageable and there is considerable disruption to learning and to communities.

"We need the Scottish Government to look at this again and provide some clarity over the situation we now find ourselves in.”
